Student Support Services provides motivated first-generation college students from moderate and low-income families with resources and services that will assist them to stay in school, do well in school, and graduate.

Funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of TRiO Programs, SSS at NKU is one of over 900 programs nationally designed to increase the academic performance, retention and graduation rates of program participants.  Each year 232 SSS scholars enjoy the following FREE services: 

  • Professional advising and mentoring from a Support Specialist
  • Career/Major Counseling
  • Super Priority Registration
  • Specialized SSS Instructional Courses  
  • Assistance with Academic Success Skills
  • Computer Literacy
  • Financial Aid Counseling
  • Social/Cultural Activities

As an SSS scholar you'll learn to...

  • Implement effective success strategies
  • Identify and access resources to support your success
  • Set and pursue individual goals
  • Develop a professional network of support

You may qualify for Student Support Services if you have a need for academic support and meet any of the following eligibility criteria:

  • You're from a moderate or low income family
  • Your parents didn't earn a bachelor's degree
  • You have a federally recognized disability
